Chris Rumsey - Potter
Chris’ work is hand built (he does not use a wheel). He mostly uses a combination of coiling and slab building techniques. Most of his pieces of work are lamps. They are not lamps in the traditional form, but are vessels that emit ambient light through holes in the body. Each lamp has two states: the unlit which can be appreciated for its form and glaze and the lit state where light spills out producing small circles of light around the form itself. Since moving to Southwell from Norfolk in 2010 Chris has converted the garage at home to a pottery studio. It provides ample space for working and displaying his work. Chris is a member of Anglian Potters and the Northern Potters Association.
